Forumsvppn The new heat in VPN world. It’s a free, ad-supported VPN from ExpressVPN. Ads and VPNs don’t really mix, but Platforms says it can offer a free service with Apple App transparency (ATT) and an identifier for advertisers (IDFA), basically allowing it to serve your ads. The problem is ad abuse. The banner lives above the app at all times, and you’ll need to sit through a 30-second ad each time you connect or disconnect; The biggest problem is when some servers send at slow speeds. I will admit that eventVPN is a unique concept, but I don’t see anything better than ProtonVPN or WINDSCRIBE for a free VPN service. And when it comes to annoying ads, it’s pretty straightforward.
Private Internet Access (PIA) It has a long history in the VPN space, and has a track record of protecting user privacy – even when faced with actual criminal activity. Privadovpn it is one of the popular ways to recommend as a free VPN. It offers a great free service, with a few things fully searched and 10 GB of data per month. You’ll have to suffer through it – yes, redirects with ezines ask you to pay for a subscription before signing up, but the free plan works. The problem is the new method of FaisaDovpn. There is no transparency report or audit available, and although the speed is good, it is not as good as Proton, WINDSCRIBE, or Surfshark. Privadovpn isn’t perfect, but it’s hard to recommend when proton and windcrise are free plans that are equally good.
VPNs to avoid
You’ll find plenty of free VPNs that all claim to protect your privacy. Most of them don’t. There are many VPNs I don’t recommend, but these few I’ve tested are worth mentioning.

Hola also owns Luminous Data (formerly luminati), which is a data collection company. First, it uses the ProPRIetary VPN protocol, which cheats inside the app. Proprietary protocols such as NordvPN’s NordvPN’s Lightway are based on existing, open source protocols. In addition, X-VPN was highlighted in a Tech Pransparency project report on free VPNS with links to the Chinese government; IX-VPN is based in Hong Kong. There’s no smoking gun with X-VPN, but you don’t have to. The speed is not the best, the application lacks basic features such as partitioning, and the prices paid are in line with the top providers.
How we test VPNS
Obviously, a VPN should do two things: keep your internet speed reasonably fast, and actually protect your browsing data. This is where I focused my testing. Additional features, humble UI, and customization settings are great, but they don’t care if the essential service is broken.
A speed test requires spot checks, such as the time of day, the network you’re connected to, and the specific VPN server you’re using for all speed measurements. As a result, I always set the base speed on my unsecured connection directly before recording the results, and I checked three times on both and the UK servers. With those baselines down, I see checks at various times of the day during the week to see if the slowdown was consistent.
Security is very involved. First, I checked DNS, Webrtc, and IP leaks every time I connect to the server using browser leaks. I also ran short tests snapping my connection with Wireshark to ensure that all sent packets are protected with the VPN Protocol used.
On a privacy front, the top recommended services included in this list have been independently tested, and they all maintain some form of transparent reporting. In most cases, there is a proper report, but in some, like WINDSCRIBE, that transparency is revealed through legal measures.
