The Mayor of Chicago brings out the dark history of the ‘general strike’ in No makhosi 2.0
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson issued a fiery call for a general strike during a fiery speech at Saturday’s Sway Rally.
Currently in charge of the Independent Media Outlet exploding News, the former teacher turned urban leader with a spirit and brought the case of the former enslaved people.
“If my ancestors, as slaves, could lead the largest general strike in the history of this country, they took it from the rich and big companies,” he said today, “he said. “Democracy will survive because of this generation. Are you ready to take it to the courts and the streets?”

Johnson is not the first person to call for a general strike. But his profile and his position give new life to the old edges of the years.
Basically, a general strike results when the majority of workers in all industries withhold their workers to force a walk in the status quo. While the Seattle General Strike of 1919 is often seen as the first major effort in the country, Web Dubois argues for “black reconstruction” that enslaved people led to the first and largest strike in history.
In the chapter entitled “The General Strike” Dubois explained that a large number of enslaved people changed their work on the plantations to the union, organized by this new environment. Through his analysis, Dubois showed that black people organized themselves and were active participants in ending the oppressive system of slavery.
The general strike of the 21st century will challenge economic and social competition in an effort to uplift communities across the country who are suffering from the policies of the current administration. Given the current nature of the social safety net, massive tax cuts given to the wealthiest Americans, and tyranny from the top, a general strike would have a major impact on the situation.
Although it takes time, raising awareness may help Americans understand the possibilities of depression and anxiety after the war ends.
Crowd estimates show more than 100,000 people attended in Chicago. Johnson directed his message to a nationwide coalition meeting to rise up against the “tyranny” experienced in Chicago and other communities across the country.
He also asked people to stand together in search of the rich and big companies “tax” that is paid a fair tax “to support education, jobs and travel among other things.
