Turning Point USA (TPUSA) Field Representative in Texas Cates “unprecedented growth” of TPUSA chapters after Charlie Kirk’s murder.
“There’s never been anything that never happened,” Paige Rasmussen told Fox Digital News.
“In such dark times, we weren’t really sure, you know, in the beginning, what are we doing now? We’re doing it very quickly from where we left off,” Rasmussen said.
Rasmussen embodies the “lone superstar” of TPUSA.
A field representative’s job is to recruit students and host events. Their other responsibilities include administrative duties. Rasmussen said his job is split between being on campus with students and answering calls to make sure events are planned for students.

Shock and resolution: Students reflect on the death of Charlie Kirk, the future of the conservative movement
After Kirk’s death, many students moved to Tpusa chapters, Rasmussen reported.
“It just kept growing and growing,” Rasmussen told Fox News Digital. He continued, “I mean, we’re seeing hundreds of thousands of students who want to be involved, thousands of chapters that start at the top of the school and its faith so they can stand up and do amazing work on their college campuses.”
Rasmussen heads the University of Texas at Tyler, where the University welcomed a new chapter earlier this month.
“It was quiet for a while, but after Charlie, we got almost 100 members, so it was really cool,” said Reece Cooper, President of the TPUSA chapter in Ut-Tyler told Fox News Digital.
The chapter started in January, but was not officially recognized by the University until this month. Cooper said the group struggled to find a strategic advisor to fund their organization because of TPUSA’s excessive political influence associated with conservative politics. Jonathan Roncancio, the chapter’s Vice President, said the majority of the left wing is shrinking and that the group is not trying hard enough to secure support for the council.

UT-Tyler officials told fox digital news that the chapter applied for registration on September 19, and the University worked with students to facilitate the process. The chapter was approved on Oct. 9.

The chapter finally found a mentor and was recognized after Kirk’s death, which dominated the headlines.
Roncancio added that they noticed an increase in group discussion that involved members.
“We had a lot of people join the groupme. From 10 to 120 people a night and it was obvious that they were doing it with passion.
Kirk built a following over the past five years traveling the country to speak with college students on culture war issues such as gender stereotypes, racial divides and feelings of Christian and American values.

Kirk, who was killed while speaking at a college event in Utah, left behind a wife, Erika, and two children. Since his death, Tpusa, the organization founded by Kirk, has received a lot of support.

Rasmussen’s projects continue to grow because revival is sweeping the country, encouraging young people to stand up for what they believe.
“I don’t see it slowing down because I don’t think this is a situation where people see it online and want to join something popular,” he said.
He concluded by saying, “I think this is a revival and it is when students and when people in general, whether they are in school, feel confident in their times and their beliefs.”
