Dubai will launch a new region designed to support the world’s second-hand projects

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness the President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, presented the Mohammed Bin Rashid Endowment District, AED4.7bn) Development.

The Landmark initiative – the first residential district of its kind in the region – is a strategic investment under the international programs of Mohammed (MBRGI), developed with the support of Azizi development.

Endowment District in Dubai

Spanning 2 million feet, the district combines modern housing, health care and education within a single master program, creating an urban model for sustainable philanthropy.

Returns from the region’s housing, health, and education facilities will enhance MBRGI’s global programs and health programs, ensuring a continuous flow of funds for charitable and development efforts around the world.

Sheikh Mohammed said: “Today, we launched the Mohammed Bin Rashid Endowment District as a flagship Endowment project that brings together healthcare, education, and housing areas.

“Our goal is to serve as an urban model that embodies our vision of decluttering as a tool that increases the value of giving and leaves a lasting impact on people’s lives.

“The new Endowment project reflects the Ethos of the UAE and stands as a symbol of compassion, generosity and the spirit of unity that defines our society.

“It is an example of our attitude to establish a charitable and humanitarian work as a strategic driver of sustainable development, and it stands as a new example of phistanthropy in the region.”

Sustainable development

The project includes 25 elevated buildings that include more than 2,000 residential units, a 250-bed hospital, a medical college, and two schools with a capacity of 5,000 students in all categories.

When finished, it will host more than 12,000 residents and visitors every day, supported by integrated infrastructure, green spaces, boulevards, mosques, and thousands of parking spaces.

The hospital, designed to handle more than 90,000 cases a year, will include dedicated housing for medical staff and facilities to train new generations of health professionals, making the region a regional center of excellence in health.

The AED330M ($89.8m) total investment comes from a group of investors, with profits returned to support regional missions.

Redefining philanthropy

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet and MBRGI History Center, said the project exemplifies Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to redefine sustainable voluntary work.

“This project will ensure a continuous cash flow and lasting impact in supporting the health sector, thus improving the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts in this important field.”

He added that this initiative will serve as a banner for future MBRGI projects, to strengthen sustainable development in all sectors that directly affect people’s lives.

Azizi Development also made the largest private donation in the history of the UAE, contributing AED3BN ($816.8m) to the Endowment Fafers campaign.
