Tyrese Gibson, Mona Scott-Young Bring Aid to Jamaica After Hurricane

Tyrese Gibson and Mona Scott-Young hit it off in Jamaica this week, not for a music video shoot or a glamorous event, but for humanitarian work. Famous R & B singer and actor Fast & Furious he joined the army with Love & hip hop Mdali delivers supplies to residents struggling to recover from the devastation left by Hurricane Melissa.
The duo arrived on Monday, and shared a bit of their trip on social media. Their private jersey was filled with boxes of relief supplies – water, food and technology – not a creative load.
“This is not just a private jet for a private jet at all,” said Mona Scott-Young in one of her videos. “This is a humanitarian operation. We were able to do what we could in a short time.”

Scott-Young explained that his focus is on helping restore connectivity to the island. He said: “My thing will be powering up,” he said, revealing that he brought several Starlink Units with him. “I’m looking forward to getting more stars in Jamaica so people can talk to their families.” StarLink, developed by Spacex, provides critical satellite-based Internet service in disaster-stricken or remote areas where traditional infrastructure has not been damaged.
As the plane’s doors opened, Tyrese stepped onto the tarmac with his warm and grateful heart. “Jamaica, we’re here, baby,” she said. “We’re loading it up. I’ve always wanted to do this. We know there’s a lot of pain and we’re not just here to give, but to give with attached love.”
Both stars made time to meet the local people, listen to their stories, and see the rebuilding efforts. Tyrese later appeared on Instagram, praising the resilience of the community: “The resilience of the Jamaican people on full display.”
For Scott-Young, the journey was personal. “It’s beautiful here, as beautiful as I remember it,” he shared. “You know I love Jamaica.”
Their efforts are part of a growing wave of international support pouring into Jamaica in the wake of Hurricane Melissa. Other global figures – including Rihanna’s Clara Lionlel Foundation, Nicki Minaj, Denzel Washington, and DJ Khaled – have donated funds and equipment to help restore homes and essential services.
Gibson encouraged his followers to get involved, direct donations to w.org, a charity founded by his late friend and Fast & Furious Co-Star Paul Walker, who explores positive crisis response and relief.
For both Tyrese and Tona, the trip wasn’t just about bringing aid — it was about showing solidarity. “We’re here because love moves faster than any storm,” Tyrese said in one of the posts. Even in Jamaica, that love felt good.
