Saudi Arabia to fast track the Electric Air Taxi Rolleut under the new Gaca-Joby agreement

Saudi Arabia has taken a big step in the adoption of electric taxis, signing a new memorandum of understanding between the general authority of Circiver Aviation (Gaca) and Joby Aviation to monitor the deployment of Jobey aircraft in the Kingdom.
The partnership will use the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) certification standards as the basis for a structured accreditation process, positioning Saudi Arabia as one of the first Air Mobility solutions.
With the Agreement, Saudi Arabia joins the US, the UK, Japan, South Korea and the UAE as a market for the construction of Jobey’s air taxi, strengthening the long-term technology of AVIATION.
Air Taxis in Saudi Arabia
Joeben Bevirt, founder and CEO of Jobey, said: “We have been working with the FAA since 2016 on the certification and commercial operation of our aircraft, and now we are setting those operational standards worldwide.
“We look forward to partnering with GACA on this bold mission: to bring quieter, faster and easier air travel to Saudi Arabia.”
Captain Sulaiman Bin Saleh Al-Muhaimedi, the President in charge of Aviation and environmental sustainability in Gaca, said that the agreement places important missiles in the achievement of advanced air targets (AAM).
He said that this initiative is not only aimed at introducing new aviation technology, but also at building domestic strength with important synthetic materials and building suitable national talent.
According to Al-Muhaimedi, the collaboration supports the AAM Roadmap within the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
A regulatory framework to be built around FAA standards
To accelerate the development of Audi Arabia’s Ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, GACA and Jobey will collaborate on three core areas with experience in DABY’s FAA certification work:
- Technical expertise covering type, production and operational requirements to support a comprehensive regulatory structure
- Collaborate on aviation support standards to support appropriate FAA certification
- The development and harmonization of the regulations governing the initial operation, including the integration of the driver’s license, maintenance and integration of airSpace
Joby continues to move forward with full FAA type certification in the US, with the company approaching the final stage involving direct testing of aircraft performance and safety by FAA pilots.
Globally, Jobey also influenced the Aam-National MeabetMarMap field of the five National Network’s five, which seeks to establish global certification methods.
Commercial cooperation
The broad strategy of Jobey Saudi includes an important relationship with Abdul Latif Jameel, which evaluates the delivery of aircraft up to 200bn flying for about $ 1bn, with the arm of mukamalah), the aviation arm of Saudi Aramco.
The latest announcement builds on the renewed economic cooperation between the US administration and the Saudi government following the visit of the President of May in May this year.
