‘Call of Duty’ Creator Passes Through Fatal Car Accident

Vince Zampella Dies After Tragic Car Accident
On Monday, reports spread on the net that Vince Zampella reportedly passed away in a serious car accident. According to TMZ, the car accident happened over the weekend on a mountainous highway near Los Angeles. Authorities say the one-car crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Sunday on Angeles Crest Highway in Altadena.
Authorities say the car left the road, hit concrete, and caught fire. Two people were involved in the accident. Vince Zampella was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger died at the hospital. Officials have not released the identity of the passenger.
A video reportedly obtained by the outlet shows a red Ferrari reversing into a tunnel on the Angeles Crest highway before losing control and hitting concrete barriers near the curb. The car immediately burst into flames. Authorities reported that the passenger was ejected from the vehicle, while Vince was trapped inside the burning sports car.

In addition to his work on Call of Duty, Vince Zampella also led the team at the Electronic Arts studio in Playa Vista behind the Battlefield franchise. Following news of his passing, Electronic Arts released a statement describing Zampella’s influence on the video game industry as “enormous and far-reaching.”

Others who knew Zampella personally also pointed to his creative influence. Video game critic for the Washington Post Gene Parkwho spoke to NBC Los Angeles, shared his thoughts after meeting Zampella.
“He really knew how to craft stories and create experiences that really touch the human heart, whether it’s fear, horror, heroism.,โ said Park.I think he’s really been able to bring that together with the video game designs he’s done.”
Park also described Zampella as humble and self-aware.“He was a very humble person. He was well aware of the impact he had on people, and he didn’t take it for granted.”
