Florida Woman Allegedly Drunk Her Disabled Grandson in Planned Suicide
According to a press release from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, deputies will be looking for Collier on Monday, December 29. This, after it was reported that he left his home and left behind a suicide note found by his family. In addition, deputies located his vehicle and stopped him. At the time of the release, Collier was inside her car with her 13-year-old grandson, who was said to be “passed out in the passenger seat.”
During the traffic stop, Collier allegedly told the officer that his grandson was asleep.
“However, the deputies found the residue of the white pill on him and found him completely unresponsive to the reward,” the release adds.
After that, the 13-year-old was transferred to the hospital while the investigation continued with Collier. In the woman’s purse, deputies reportedly found “bottles of prescription medications and another typewritten letter indicating that Collier was ending her life and that of her granddaughter.” This, it is reported, is due to “stress caused by all members of the family.”

At the time of the release, deputies learned that Collier’s grandson needed 24-hour care, and the woman and her husband were the sole caretakers and guardians of the 13-year-old.
“The constant demands for care contributed to the great stress on the family. Collier was opposed to the idea of the victim receiving care in an assisted living facility and said he believed no one would care for him like his family. In his despair over this ordeal, Collier made a plan to end his grandson’s life, followed by his own,” the release explained.
Ultimately, Collier was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail and is being held without bond. In addition, the release asserts that he was charged with “first-degree attempted murder.” Finally, the release asserts that her grandson is now in stable condition despite “taking the pills that Collier fed him to kill.”
