Abu Dhabi launches Quality Policy to improve competitiveness

The UAE capital has launched the Abu Dhabi Quality Policy, which is part of the Government’s vision to strengthen the emirate’s position among the world’s leading cities in terms of quality of life, innovation, and economic competitiveness.
This policy, developed by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), also aims to empower the industrial and technical sectors to access global markets in an efficient and reliable manner.
The introduction of the Abu Dhabi Quality Policy provides an integrated framework to coordinate the roles of all regulatory and supervisory authorities, ensure the coherence of efforts to improve efficiency, support innovation, and increase the contribution of the industrial sector.
The Infrastructure Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development (QI4SD) of 2024 showed a direct relationship between the quality of the measurement and the systems of compliance with the economic growth of the countries. A one-point improvement in the index contributes to an increase in the GDP of major economies ranging between $15 billion and $50 billion, underscoring the deep economic importance of quality infrastructure in improving exports, opening new markets, reducing trade barriers, and strengthening global confidence in domestic industry.
ADQCC believes that the new policy will play an important role in improving the competitiveness of products produced in Abu Dhabi, increase its level of international recognition, and allow its entry into important global markets.
Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the ADQCC Board, commented: “The launch of the Abu Dhabi Quality Policy marks an important step in the emirate’s economic and social development journey.
“It demonstrates our commitment to developing an integrated ecosystem that enhances Abu Dhabi’s global competitiveness, supports national industries in line with the highest international standards, and delivers the emirate’s vision of continuous improvement in the quality of life, while creating opportunities for growth and prosperity for all members of society.
“In recent years, Abu Dhabi has shown its ability to keep up with the rapid changes in the world and strengthen its leadership among the world’s leading economies. The development of high-quality infrastructure and harmonization is aimed at improving the quality of goods exported and products sold in the country.”
The Abu Dhabi Quality Policy covers all quality dimensions directly linked to people’s health, including the quality of healthcare, education, food, environment, transport and housing.
Through a unified platform, the policy contributes to improving quality of life indicators and consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading city in the adoption of global quality systems.
This policy also strengthens institutional integration and clearly defines powers and responsibilities between regulatory and supervisory authorities, reducing duplication and overlap while ensuring efficiency in line with international best practices.
More than 20 government and local companies contributed to the development of Abu Dhabi’s Quality Policy, which emphasizes full government cooperation and strong institutional integration.
