China is accelerating AI development to challenge US technological dominance
FOX Business’ Madison Alworth joins ‘Mornings with Maria’ to report on the global AI arms race as China works to close the gap with the United States.
What was once an American-led innovation race has become a high-level competition over economic power, national security and technological leadership.
FOX Business’ Madison Alworth joined Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria” to report how America’s leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) is being tested as China accelerates its bid to become a global technology powerhouse.
Artificial intelligence no longer just powers search engines and chat tools like ChatGPT. It is reshaping the way companies produce goods, analyze markets, secure networks, and move money. The country that builds the most advanced AI systems will have a strong advantage in productivity and global influence, making this competition more consequential than previous technology races.
FORMER INTEL EXECUTIVE WARNS CHIP COMEBACK IS STILL A LONGWAY
US companies still dominate global AI development, fueled by strong private sector investment in chips, cloud computing, and advanced software. That market-driven system helps American firms stay agile and keep pushing innovation ahead of competitors.
China, however, is narrowing the gap. Beijing has made artificial intelligence a national priority, aiming to reduce its reliance on Western technology.
Substrate CEO James Proud joins ‘Mornings with Maria’ to sound the alarm about China’s rapid AI chip capabilities and what it means for America’s tech fringes.
Industry leaders say the race is far from settled.
“I expect xAI to continue to be a very strong player. They are making significant investments in the area of thinking and reasoning,” said CEO of Vercel Guillermo Rauch. “I expect them to continue to make incredible progress and I would never rule Elon out [Musk] as one of the top players in this space.”
MORE NUCLEAR DEALS WILL HELP ‘WIN’ AI RACE WITH CHINA, OFFICIAL SAYS.
America’s biggest tech firms are building massive infrastructure to support the next generation of AI. Meta Global Affairs CEO Joel Kaplan told FOX Business, “These data centers are creating thousands of new jobs… they’re a big contributor to the economy, and they’re really going to help this country win the AI race.”
Meta’s global CEO Joel Kaplan told FOX Business that the tech company’s new nuclear power deals will create thousands of skilled jobs and strengthen the US power grid.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai told “Fox News Sunday” that the US must “find the right balance” in AI regulation or risk falling behind China. He warned that the more than 1,000 AI-related bills circulating in state legislatures could create a confusing web of laws that “make it difficult for US companies to compete globally.”
Picashi called for a coordinated national approach, saying both governments and the private sector must work together “to create standards and frameworks where we all use technology in a collaborative way.”
Google CEO Sundar Pichai joins ‘Fox News Sunday’ to discuss the dangers of AI innovation, cutting back on abuse, the future of technology and more.
The competition goes beyond software development. Technology and economic analysts say that artificial intelligence is likely to influence where jobs are created, how companies operate and which nations gain the upper hand in the digital economy.
As the US and China pour billions into artificial intelligence, both countries are scrambling to secure long-term economic and strategic benefits from the technology that is reshaping the global economy.
