Gia Casey Shares What Happened Leading Up To Peyton’s Arrest
Mrs. Casey shared the shocking news on Christmas Day, saying in the caption that the holiday “looks very different” for their family this year. He revealed that his family’s world “completely stopped” when the possibility of losing one of their children became a reality. Gia and DJ Envy—real name Raashaun Casey—have six children, Peyton being their youngest. The couple have been together since high school and have been married for over two decades.
In her Instagram post, Gia said Peyton was suffering from the flu and strep throat at the same time. In addition, the child had been suffering from a fever “for several days.” However, Peyton’s visit to the pediatrician and urgent care resulted in the same advice that Gia and DJ Envy didn’t need to worry too much about. According to the report, the parents were informed that the flu attacks strongly in the winter and can last between seven and eight days.
Gia Casey said that Peyton’s condition kept her awake for six days, while her intuition signaled that “something was wrong.” After several nights of watching over Pey, checking his temperature, keeping him hydrated, and giving him medicine, one night things changed.
“One night in the middle of the night I looked and saw his body stiffening quickly, he opened his eyes and looked up to the left in a strange way, his arms were outstretched praying, I thought he was having a bad dream, I tried to wake him up but it turned out that it was not a dream. I moved It at that time my heart sank and I had a fear that paralyzed me… Peyton had an epileptic fit. It was the worst time in my life.” …
Peyton Is Hospitalized After Her Medical Incident
Gia Casey said in her IG post that she drove 105 mph to rush Peyton to the hospital in eight minutes. The doctors did a spinal check, a CT scan and an MRI, but by the next morning, Peyton’s condition had worsened. His eyes swelled up “like golf balls,” and “many days and many tests” later, doctors concluded that the child had a severe sinus infection. The infection “was getting into his orbital spaces and the epidural fluid around his brain.”
Doctors told the parents that Peyton would need brain surgery, but that changed. “Thank you, it wasn’t like that,” Gia wrote, adding that their daughter had two more surgeries instead. With that, the family Christmas celebration was more family-oriented than ever.
“[Peyton] he had to have two surgeries on his sinuses to drain the water. We just got home a few days ago after 10 days in the hospital and Peyton is on the mend. Praise God!!! 🙏🏽 So this Christmas, please hold your family close. This could have ended differently. We celebrate life. Thank you. We are together. #TheCaseyCrew”
