Kim Kardashian is opening up about being diagnosed with a brain aneurysm.
The creator of skims, 45, announced in the preview episode of season 7 of Hulu’s “Kardashians” that its doctors discovered the condition during an MRI scan, they told his family. “

What is an aneurysm?
A brain aneurysm is a ballooning blood vessel in the brain, which can leak or rupture, leading to bleeding, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Adam Arthur, Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee, described an aneurysm as a weakness in the artery wall, like a small water balloon that forms a hose.

This is known as a hemorrhagic stroke, which can be life-changing and fatal. Most aneurysms are small and are not serious if they burst.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Arthur – who is also the chief medical officer of Medtronic Neurovascular, a California company that produces medical devices that help treat aneurysms – noted that brain aneurysms are more common in women.

This is most likely genetic, although “there is a lot about the brain and genetics that we don’t understand,” Arthur said.
Aneurysms are present in up to one in every 50 people, according to experts, and many do not require treatment or cause a problem.

When they become a problem, aneurysms can cause a sudden stroke, where the patient can get “the worst headache of their life.” Arthur described this as “a very unusual headache, usually behind the eyes.”
“It’s a very dangerous situation,” he said. “I believe with NS kardashian, they may have found it before they called a stroke, and obviously that’s a blessing.”
What causes an aneurysm?
While aneurysms form in weak areas of bones that are joined together before birth, other factors can make the event more common.

These include alcohol consumption, nicotine exposure, certain genetic conditions, and the use of drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamines.
Drugs and nicotine are known to be “extremely bad” for aneurysm growth and rupture, because they interfere with the health of the blood, detailed Arthur.

The expert added that chronic stress has also been linked to brain aneurysms, noting that focusing on sleep, diet and exercise can help reduce the risk.
Knowing the family history of aneurysms is important, Arthur added, because it is recommended to get a screening test, or MRI, if two close relatives have them.

To treat the condition
Although some aneurysms can be killed suddenly when they lead to a stroke, people who are experiencing symptoms – usually severe pain – should see a doctor for treatment options, according to Arthur.
If an aneurysm is found before it ruptures, minimally invasive surgery can be performed to prevent a stroke. Open surgery can also be an option, where the surgeon can clip the aneurysm from the target.

Small aneurysms in older patients can often be checked by a doctor to make sure they aren’t growing or causing a bigger problem, the doctor said.

“We have ways to repair aneurysms now that are very remarkable,” Arthur told Fox News Digital. “What we can do is put a metal mesh over the opening of the aneurysm or fill the aneurysm with a device and let nature take its course – so that blood forms scars and scars.”
