Dubai Municipality taps Nokia to improve the city’s public facilities

Dubai Municipality will use artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology from Nokia, a global leader in smart infrastructure, to improve service delivery, reduce resource consumption, and improve the performance of the city’s public spaces.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) establishes a framework for driving Nokia’s advanced digital solutions across various public initiatives, including architectural automation, energy performance, and smart analytics platforms to monitor and manage environmental and operational performance in real time.

The agreement aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and reflects Dubai’s commitment to building a sustainable, knowledge-driven digital economy that will improve the performance of the city’s infrastructure and public services. It supports Dubai Municipality’s efforts to improve service delivery, reduce environmental impact, improve resource efficiency, and improve the performance and sustainability of public spaces throughout the city.

Badr Anwahi, Chief Public Utilities Officer at Dubai Municipality, said: “Through this agreement, we confirm our commitment to integrating advanced digital and artificial intelligence solutions in the public sector.

“Nokia’s global expertise in smart infrastructure will support us in improving the efficiency, durability, and long-term performance of these spaces.”

Helmut von Struve, CEO of Nokia Middle East and UAE, added: “We are more than proud to extend our cooperation with this partner program. This agreement shows to allow efficiency and stability.

“Together, we aim to increase resource management, digital infrastructure, and accelerate the deployment of Dubai Municipality to provide the highest quality of life for all residents.”

Both groups will develop technical guidelines and information resources to facilitate the exchange of the world’s best practices for smart infrastructure and AI adoption. These efforts will support the municipality’s long-term goal of developing public spaces that are more efficient, sustainable, and responsive to community needs.

The MOU is part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to build a smart, centric infrastructure that anticipates future needs and strengthens Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most liveable, innovative and vibrant cities.
