Fanatics is launching a new global studio for premium sports entertainment

Fanatics and OBB Media announced Tuesday a joint venture that is poised to become the world’s premier sports entertainment studio.

Fanatics Studios is a new entertainment studio built to independently create, finance, produce, and distribute high-quality content at the intersection of sports and culture.

Fanatics Studio is set to bring together industry-leading talent, resources, and partnerships, including Fanatics’ unparalleled access to all sports with a proven track record of culturally impactful, award-winning storytelling that has generated billions of views.

Over the next year, Fanatics Studios will release a behind-the-scenes look at Tom Brady’s flag football attempt at the Olympics, produce documentaries for the World Baseball Classic, produce the ESPYs, and release other WWE content.

“I’m incredibly excited to launch Fanatics Studios and add a valuable content and media business to our growing esports environment that supports all of our existing businesses,” Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin said in a statement. “We couldn’t have dreamed of a better partner in Michael Ratner and the team at OBB, and together we will continue to push our mission to improve the fan experience by relentlessly creating content that brings fans closer than ever to their favorite teams, players, sports, cultural moments and events like never before.”

“Sports and pop culture meet at the center of the global entertainment industry and we’re building Fanatics Studios to redefine what’s possible at that intersection,” added Fanatics Studios CEO Michael D. Ratner.

Fanatics Studios also entered into a partnership with the Los Angeles Olympics, producing the official Olympic film.

Fanatics and OBB also recently announced a 10-year partnership to continue to co-produce Fanatics Fest, the world’s leading fan festival, which will return to the Javits Center in New York July 16-19.
