Jessica Simpson gives herself a well-deserved pat on the back.

The singer recently opened up about his struggles with alcoholism while looking back on his 2017 decision to quit drinking.

To mark eight years of her reign, the 45-year-old shared a post on Instagram, raw and real about the impact her lifestyle change has had on her life and career.

“8 years ago today I made the choice to face it, to admit and stop the self-harming of my life that I choose,” said Novason 1.

“Making that decision allowed me to live fully in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my feelings, blocked my dreams and banished my fear of contentment.”

Back in 2021, Simpson shared a photo that influenced his decision to quit drinking.

“Drinking wasn’t a problem. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect the power of my life,” he told his fans at the time.

“I am my own strong and courageous mind. I am very honest and very open. I am free.”

Simpson took a big physical change during this time, too.

He continued this past weekend:

“Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith. Both fear and faith are something we feel and may not see, I am telling about fear.

The mother of three (Maxwell, aged 13, 12, and Birdie, 6) – who split from Eric Johnson a few months ago – has long struggled with substance abuse.

During an interview in January 2020 and today, he said that his turning point came on Halloween in 2017 … when he failed to appear as a parent to his children after drinking too much.

“Honestly, I couldn’t even tell you who invented it,” he said at the time.

“I was just torn and confused, and I just wanted to sleep. I didn’t take them for granted – even though I treat my family.”

Another day later?

Simpson began treatment and stopped faking.

“I just knew I had to give,” she said.

“I want to continue the way I’ve been, and at this point in my life, I’m now strong enough to face whatever comes next. Because I don’t have anything to fall back on.”

Simpson returned to music earlier this year with the EP NASHville Canyon, Part 1, a collection of 6 imported tunes.

It was followed by the second part, which went on sale in September.
