India’s leading powerhouse Jonita collaborated with a global music icon Ed Sheeran a new, cross-cultural interpretation of his song ‘heaven’.
Collaboration – Released as part of Sheran’s ‘Play: The Remixes EP’ – It marks a big East-Meest-West-West-West moment, as Jonita delivers a Hindi verse on one of the most heartfelt tracks.
The Hindi-English Remix finds Sheeran’s Soft, Folk-Pop Melody woven with Jonita’s Jocals and fluid transitions between languages, making for a version that feels closer now. It’s also Sheeran’s first track to feature Hindi lyrics – signaling his deep connection to the Indian music scene, following previous collaborations with Karan is sleeping, A horseagain Dhee on the same EP.
Commenting collectively, ‘hello’ The singer says: “I’ve been a huge fan of Ed’s for as long as I can remember, so I’m collaborating with him on this version of ‘heaven’ you feel really special. Jonita’s first encounter with ED happened a year ago in Bombay, where she was struck by her genuine curiosity about Indian music and its rich metal. That idea was deepened when he later shared early versions of the ‘Play’ Tracks-songs that really brought those influences to life. Recently, she opened for Sheeran during his show in Chennai, and showed off their collaboration ‘heaven’ by “Fame I Will Hold Forever”.
