Mike Tannenbaum’s The 33rd Team receives Series B funding from investors

After calling it a job in the team’s facilities, former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum still wanted to be involved in the game.

Tannenbaum joined ESPN as an insider in 2019 after serving as the Miami Dolphins’ senior vice president of football operations.

That same year, he founded Team 33, which brings in-depth analysis, expert insight and reaction to the latest news from across the league.

Tannenbaum’s business has been used by NFL teams to find people to fill roles and design custom solutions to help the teams’ specific goals, and Team 33 has taken another step in its efforts.

The 33 team announced Tuesday a Series B funding round with notable investors including Gary Vaynerchuk, Silver Falcon Capital (the family office of former NASCAR CEO Brian France) and John Low.

“Having iconic names with people like Gary Vee, it’s the ultimate validation, and we’re very grateful to them and all of our investors who support us,” Tannenbaum said in a recent interview with FOX Business. “It’s good to have their trust and everyone in the organization is working hard to ensure their trust.”

They’ve also added other top football minds to their cap table, including NFL alum Justin Pugh and former NFL coach Matt Patricia.

The announcement highlights Team 33’s pivot from a media-focused organization to a leading football analytics and technology provider, with partnerships already confirmed with 10% of all NFL teams for the 2025-26 season, including Tannenbaum’s former Jets.

The 33 team combines decades of NFL front office expertise with an extensive industry network to identify, evaluate and evaluate exceptional talent for today’s football organizations. It also uses Zenith, a next-generation data and analytics platform, to deliver results.

“We’ve been working hard to look at different information and technologies to service the soccer ecosystem, and over the last few years, we’ve been looking and looking and researching the ecosystem,” Tannenbaum said. “We thought there was a great opportunity to try and deliver data based on the movements of real players. We’re excited about what we’re building, and we’re very encouraged by the early acceptance that other teams are already using our product and buying it.”
