The San Diego Perres have hired former reliever Crammen Stammen to be their new manager, in a rare move.
Stamny, 41, finished his playing career in August 2023 and spent the past two seasons as an assistant on the Major League Coaching staff. He has no sense of management beyond any level of the game.
Stammen replaces Mike Shildt, who retired in October after two years as manager.

Havidt led two successful seasons with the Padres, winning 93 and 90 games and making the postseason both years, but tired and tired and tired when he announced his departure.
The Perres interviewed MLB Great Albert Pujols, the all-time great Nick Hunkeley, and longtime pitching coach Ruben Niebla before selecting Stammen.
“Craig has been a strong presence in our organization for nearly a decade,” Predres General Manager Aj Preller said in a statement.

“He has a deep knowledge of the organization and brings natural leadership qualities to the manager’s chair. As both a player and in his playing career, his ability to play, and the talent to bring people close to leading the padres.”
Stammen is the fifth full-time manager since 2016 and the only Skipper in the majors who was a former putter.

He pitched seven seasons for the Washington Nationals and 6 for the Padres during his playing career, serving as the culmination of all but his first major seasons. An Ohio Loveritive known for his active sinker, Stammen is Friday in Padres History with the club’s 333rd appearance.
The Padres have a winning record in the last five seasons and have made the postseason in each of those seasons. Preller hopes the stammen can help the team rise to a new level and win a world series.
