Morrissey is devastated by the Manchester Bronking Song, unable to get a record deal

In 1992, Steven Patrick Morrissey, who was the lead singer of the cutting edge 80s Brit Band The Smiths, wrote a song called “We’ll Let You Know.” More than 30 years later, its sentiments have an artist written down and its message catches fire.

Last month, Morrissey had two concerts canceled due to credible death threats.

“We’ll let you know” is a cry. It opens with the words, “How sad are we, and how sad are we?” And Morrissey is talking specifically about Britain.

What he lamented, long ago, is the end of British culture, as thick, “and the songs we chew, should not mean anything,” they clarified. Even in 1992, he realized that his history and culture were not only available, but dragged out.

Today, Morrissey fills houses all over the world. I know because I go. He turned down Radio City Music Hall last month, so why, exactly, can’t his latest distribution?

The latest controversy surrounding MOZ, as it is known, is that it has a song called “bonfire of the youth,” about the attack of Korrotis on Muslims at the Manchester concert in 2017, where he said that he will not forgive or forget wisdom.

After the bombing of the Ariana Grande Concert, carried out by Islamic extremists, the people of Mansis held a meeting where they sang the beautiful song of the oasis, “don’t look back in anger,” as if to forgive humanity.

Morrissey, like the last day Lynyrd Skynyry responding to the attack on Neil Young on Sweet Home Alabama, wrote in his song, “and the stupid people sing, I’ll look back, I’ll look back in anger until the day I die.”

That’s not the kind of sentiment that drives contracts these days.

But there is a central mistake that morrissey detectors make. They think he’s talking about race, when he’s talking about culture. They think he’s talking about biology when he’s talking about books.

Morrissey can be talked about as the greatest musician of his generation. His songs are full of references to Joyce, Shakespeare and Wilde. He wishes to be a writer of the English language in the festival with them, not to swear.

In an age where every musician or celebrity is just getting on board with the latest political trend, Morrissey won’t. It doesn’t mean you’re particularly conservative, you just want freedom.

Many of Morrissey’s fans, and there are all over the known world, including the quarreling Latinos who will make you jealous, want him to release his new album alone.

Bypaka program, and yes, most people will buy it. But Morrissey isn’t a producer, he’s a singer.

The real question is if any record company will take on the guy who sells out arenas around the world now that the revival spell may have been broken.

Could Morrissey be brought back into the realm of mainstream recording artists getting contracts? Like a Proangbanger Rap Rap artist? I can’t hold my breath.

When I was 18, I heard Morrissey announce these words to me:

Sing your life

He went straight to the microphone, and the word

All the things you love

All the things you do for yourself

And that changed me. Since then, I have tried to do that. His message has always been that every word is ours.

I love Mark Twain and Jack Kerouac as much as moz loves Yeats and Oscar Wilde, and for the same reasons. They write what makes us who we are.

Morrissey, as one of his songs suggests, won’t change, and he won’t be good. But will the record industry give people what they want? Or does it remain a slave to unity?

Morrissey is the winner in all of this. Whether he gets a record deal or not, he lives up to the great British writers who come back.

It’s a goal every writer should seek.

Morrissey ends ‘We’ll let you know,’ sings:

We can seem cold, or we can be the most stressful people you’ve ever known

At heart, what’s left, we sadly know we’re the last people the British will ever know.

Let’s hope that’s not true.
