Paramount’s ‘telephone’ movie is officially underway, and it’s bringing some big guns
Earlier this week, the biggest news in Hollywood was Mega-producer Taylor Sheridan left paramoous for Universal. Today, however, Sheridan has signed on to write and produce one of the world’s biggest franchises for the same company he left. And his attachment means more than the usual movie stories.
The news is that Sheridan (who invented the famous genius Yellowstone Universe and all its spoffs) signed to write and produce a Call of Duty movie with Peter Berg. Berg, is best known for films like Friday night lights, war, and One survivor, will direct, and write and produce. There is no word that, if any, is specific Call of Duty The game will be in the middle of an adaptation, but Paramount says the film will be designed to shoot its biggest worldwide base by bringing the characters that fans love to an entirely new audience. ” Call of Dutywell, it’s a Mega Action video game franchise that has sold over 500 million copies.
Berg has not been able to direct a feature film since 2020, instead spending most of his time doing broadcasts and TV. Sheridan has been away from the big screen for a few years (he wrote and directed Those who wish me dead in 2021) but it has been very complicated, productive, and creative not only Yellowstone shows, but also Tulta King, Landman, mayor of Kingstown, and more. Basically the king of Paramoust +, that’s why it was such a big problem that he signed a bill worth a billion dollars to leave the spot and move on to his whole place where his spinner is.
But it’s not until 2028. Now, you join Call of Duty. It’s a moment that can almost be heard shouting from the shareholders who love it “Hey, we’re still going to profit from this short-term fellow!” But beyond that, it’s a fascinating pairing because Sheridan, with his aforementioned TV work, and Berg, especially with his recent film work (Patriots Day, lone survivor, crown deep), seems to carry the real rah-rah feel of traditional Americana. Blue-Collar blue, very active man, very All Monman. That certainly makes it seem like what paramous is looking for Call of Duty. It’s a military action movie that’s inferior to anything and everything out there or weird. A combination of black Ops and Modern Warfaremaybe, while ignoring the weirdrise franchise entries. And, with the big corporation in today’s America, it’s probably the safest bet.
If so Call of Duty Paramount wants, sure enough, they’ve hired the right guys. Will they actually be able to bring it all together and get the movie in theaters? Who knows? But it’s not often that two filmmakers join a project that has given us a clear vision of what that final film could be and how important it is to the studio.
