“And we got the news, and let me say this, unlike other people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most honorable, bravest people you’ve ever wanted to know,” the former First Lady said, rebuking Donald Trump’s views.
As previously reported by NewsOne, Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found stabbed to death in their home on Sunday. Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested and charged with their deaths. He is currently being held without bond in the Los Angeles County Jail.
In a disgusting and dangerous Public Truth book, Donald Trump took this opportunity to blame the Reiners for their death and did it about him at the same time, saying that Rob Reiner died “reportedly because of the anger he caused others with his great, unreserved, incurable mental illness known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT, sometimes called TRUMP.
“They are not confused or crazy,” Michelle Obama said. “They weren’t always the most loving people at a time when there wasn’t a lot of courage going on. They were the kind of people who were willing to put their actions behind what they cared about, and they cared about their families, and they cared about this country, and they cared about justice and equality, and that’s the truth. I know them.”
As the New York Times notes, “Reiner was a prominent Democratic donor and political activist, passionately championing causes including same-sex marriage, early childhood education, and the careers of presidential candidates.”
In a separate post on his X account, Barack Obama wrote, “Michelle and I are saddened by the passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s success in film and television has given us some of our favorite stories on the screen. But underneath all the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to embodying what his wife lived up to that purpose. They will be remembered for the values they uphold and for countless people.” We offer our condolences to all those who loved them.”
