Lynch has posted several renders of this work that were produced based on his data sources and other sources. He shared an AI-generated “ready-made” image of what the controller looks like in the release. Lynch suggests that the gamepad can see how far your hands are from the controller, akin to real VR controls, albeit without finger tracking. You can see from the mockup image that two large trackpads are arranged on the controller. Steam Deck often uses triggers like mouse clicks in other games and when using desktop mode.
The Steam controller deserves a makeover
Valve’s first controller from 2014, built for Decunct Steam TrackPads, had two saucer-like trackpads in a very lightweight frame.
