Teaf Tesla employee fired after advertising factory heat disabled hearing aids, lawsuit claims

The shareholders of Tesla just decided to make the CEO of the company, Elon Musk, members of the trillionaire – with members of the Board arguing that the Edgelord of sending to Shit, although he has a PR train, is somehow more important to the firm. It will appear, however, that if you are just a Tesla employee and Tesla – who is very focused on your work (this, unlike adding demagogues, or sending random people, or sending random people your sperm) – the EV company sees it as very difficult.
The lawsuit is in place: A former Tesla employee recently sued the company, claiming he was terminated in violation of federal law. The previous one, Hans Khols, is deaf. According to the case published by the Independent, Khols was hired through the Firm’s Internship Firm, which is designed to convert successful applicants into full-time employees as mechanical technicians. The lawsuit claims that Tesla’s interviewer realized that the kholts were deaf when they were hired. However, the suit claims that the casting department of the Gigafactory, where he was assigned, was so hot that he made his hearing worth. Shortly after asking to be transferred to a department where the environment was not so hot (maintaining that there are other suitable departments where he could easily work in his role), his position was terminated, his position said.
The throwing door, where the Kholts were assigned, “It uses high-pressure liquefaction equipment to reduce melting Aluminum Ingots, creates an environment of excessive heat and humidity, “explaining that the suit from this industrial company caused his industrial importance caused his hearing aids to be heard, a former employee:
When he started in the casting department, the extreme heat and humidity caused Mr. Kohl’s Electronic Products’ malfunction. The malfunction of his hearing aids prevented Mr Kohls from hearing reliably safety signals in that particular area. This was a natural obstacle related to equipment failure caused by extreme conditions in the Casting Department, not natural performance limitation in his ability to perform job duties.
The complaint also states that although KHOLS was relayed during the interview process that he could work in a hot location, he did not know what the gigafactory would look like:
Either the program or the spy or the conversation revealed that the door to throw Extreme heat and humidity conditions have exceeded normal industrial temperatures. Throwing The Department uses high die operations that smelt aluminum approx 1,220 ° F. Mr. Kohls would not have expected that these particular conditions would create His hearing needs to be dysfunctional until he sees it for himself.
The suit also notes that there were other departments that would have been easier to move to another department:
The ability to withstand extreme heat of the casting Department’s die-Casting performance is not an essential function of the mechanical engineering position in general, as It is proven that mechanical engineers work effectively in many other departments GFTX with standard industrial temperatures.
The complaint goes on to say that Tesla failed in its “legal obligation” to refer him to the appropriate department:
Instead of fulfilling its legal obligation under Americans with Disabilities. (“Ada”) to strengthen Mr. Kohls in a vacant position, Tesla completed his work in just nine Days after his residency application, they told him plainly that he was ‘medically separated.’
When reached for comment by Gizmoto, Khols’ Attorney, Andrew Rozynski, told us:
The facts of this case are complex and disturbing. Tesla had an eligible employee request a basic accommodation under the ADA, duplicating a vacant position where he already had demonstrated success. Instead of complying with the law, they fired him within nine days and told him he was ‘medically isolated.’
Hans Kohls surpasses his peers in Tesla’s own projects, successfully worked in many departments at the Gigafactory, and asked for nothing more than to be offered a role where extreme heat would not damage his hearing aids. Tesla’s answer? Termination. The ADA exists precisely to protect this type of discrimination.
Gizmodo has reached out to Tesla for comment, and we’ll update this post when we hear back.
Earlier this year, Musk led the Trump Administration’s Doge effort, which sought to reduce the total size of government. Musk wants to shave trillions of dollars from the federal budget, but recent reports show trillions of dollars and may have no impact on the deficit. Musk left the government in May, not long after a senior official was reported to be the “most annoying” person he had ever met and suggested he should undergo regular drug tests.
