Sen. Mike Round, R.D., is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and is ready for the fact that Democrats can block defense spending and a comprehensive spending package.
“You have to start with defense, then add some to it, but again, it takes agreement on our partners wanting to move that forward,” he said. “I’m not sure we have the votes to do that yet.”
There is a lack of confidence between the Senate Democrats and Republicans since the beginning of this year when the GOP passed the request of President Donald Trump to manage the money and NPRITS REPSOLT to hold or cancel the money with the money put forward by the Democrats.

Republicans are still trying to reopen the government and plan to put a continuing resolution (CR) on the floor again on Thursday for the 10th time. And like many times before, it is expected to fail.
When asked if he believed the shutdown would change lawmakers’ spending spending and reopening the government, Thune said, “I’m certainly optimistic.”
