The one-person landlord named in the NBA Poker Sting claims he had his home stolen — and owes $8,000 in unpaid rent
One woman charged in the NBA Poker Scandal was accused by her former employer of destroying her apartment in New York and failing to pay $8,000 that she was eventually forced to evict by staying in the apartment.
Sophia “pookie” wei40, is one of 31 suspects accused of a “criminal rig to rig poker games” that defrauded participants of at least $7 million, according to Oct. 23.
Among others named in the document are several members of organized crime families, including the Bonanno, Gambino, and Gagevese families, and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billips.
Authorities say the pranks began in 2019 and took place in various locations across the US, including New York City, East Hampton, and New York State.

According to Schage, Wea has lived in her home in Queens, NY, for 10 years, living in the field even after she and her husband separated just three months into their lease.

He noted that Hei eventually stopped paying his rent – despite evidence of what appeared to be an extravagant lifestyle, including a Mercedes SUV and a schage described as leaving “COUM COUMS.”
“He said, ‘I don’t have it [my rent]. ‘ It was so. He owes me $8,000, but I don’t know where he lives, “allegedly.” She wears many expensive clothes. He drove a Mercedes SUV. I knew there was something higher. He couldn’t pay his rent, but he drove a Mercedes. “
Schage said he kicked a wei out of the property in September 2022, where he discovered he was “destroyed” in his time.
After his departure, he said that he found that he had painted a picture without walls on the other side, and left piles of “expensive” lamps around COMMINID COMER,
Photos obtained by the Post showed the statue in question, as well as boxes full of collectibles piled high across Wei’s apartment.
Schage said he considered hiring a private investigator to track Wei down but decided it wasn’t cost-effective — although, he did have some words from someone who was his former employer.
“I hope you go to jail,” she said. “I know I’ll never get my money back, so jail is the next thing.”
According to property records, Scharge lives in the Bayside of Queens, including a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment that was recently listed on the rental market for $3,000 per month.

Schage also appears to be attractive in terms of selling the property, with records showing it was put on the market for $2.2 million in November 2024.
A previous listing for the apartment describes it as a “spacious” home in “excellent” condition, with the description touting its proximity to Bay Terrace Shopping Mall.
It is not clear where the wei is transported after being expelled from the schage.
Wei appeared in a Brooklyn federal court on Oct. 23, when she pleaded not guilty to wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges, before being released to home detention on a $100,000 bond.
He did not comment on waiting reporters and photos as he left court, wearing a gray hoodie with the “world series of poker” logo emblazoned on the front.
