Theater review: OLLLLLY WELES ”Old Oil F**K Up”, Riverside Studios

Following on from the success of F ** King Legend, – creative OLLLLY WELES Bringing back her one new husband, Old fat f**k up, A show that tackles toxic masculinity, masculinity, and feeling unfulfilled as you reach middle age.
Old fat f**k up She talks about the middle age of two, with a third child on the way. She’s broke, strapped under crippling financial pressure, and just wants to be able to enjoy peace in peace without a million questions from her kids. OLLY is quick to insist that this is a work of fiction but later reveals that things are semi-autobiographical.
Throughout the work, we see his frustration and confusion grow as the difficulties of modern life become unbearable, especially when he and his family gather the courage to visit his parents so they can live in their small apartment. A series of events takes place, leading to a man who commits an act of violence to his son’s covenant, which leads to a great change in the man’s vision.
The setting of this performance is very different from the back, with Olyly, dressed in blood-soaked clothes, crossing the stage back and forth catwalk-style with the audience sitting on either side. There is no major production here, and the player narrated everything for us to watch the six-part Netflix series.
OLLY is without a doubt an agreeable and exciting news monger, and at times it really feels like we’re watching an on demand Netflix Series. He paints the scene vividly, describing each scene and the events that take place. He also has a unique style of working, mixing stories by agreeing and standing up, but this can sometimes confuse the message he is trying to convey.
The show is part comedy but very dark, and sometimes unpleasant. While production is concentrated in some areas, it falls slightly elsewhere. There’s a scene where Olly is in a pub with a friend, and he’s having exactly the kind of conversation he’d like to have, where he’s right about toxic masculinity and really opens up about what’s bothering him. However, what actually happens is that he continues to try to get his feelings together.
This leads to the stage where Ollly seems to live his life around – he lost weight, got that Netflix series, and made great bonds. However, it is soon revealed that this is all part of a very strange sexual fantasy (which also includes the AOC. While this makes the audience scream, they personally feel the ‘horror’ of the thing for its own sake, rather than conveying a message effectively.
Old fat f**k up It covers some very important themes, especially in this day and age, and while there were some things that were really engaging and thoughtful, they didn’t easily hit the mark. The Pub situation was probably the most important turning point in this segment and probably should have ended there (albeit with different results).
What should be noted is that Ollly is a very bold actor, and often revels in his portrayal of a man in his prime. Switching between using the mic is also not the most effective way to show different characters and emotions, and you do this without power. There were times when watching his frustration build up was really fun. While not perfect (but then again, what is in life?), Old fat f**k up It definitely sparks an uncomfortable but important conversation surrounding toxic masculinity.
