Tory Lanez Talks First Prison Interview

Tory Lanez is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence following his conviction in 2022 for the shooting death of Megan Thee Stallion. In his first broadcast interview from prison, Lanez told NBC News that he believes he was wrongfully convicted. In addition, he says that there has been new evidence since the trial, which he says “which is amazing.” Although he has maintained his innocence since the incident occurred in July 2020, Lanez says he is now focused on treatment.

New Document Appears on Megan’s Legal Claims

According to her lawyer, Crystal Morgan, the alleged new evidence came to light when Megan Thee Stallion filed a defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Cooper – a case Megan won earlier this month. Cooper’s attorney, Ronda Dixon, says she reviewed Megan’s medical records as part of that civil suit. In addition, he saw the document that Lanez’s defense requests were not granted during his crime. Following up, Dixon informed Morgan after Lanez brought up the dispute.

Pathology Report Raises Questions About Missing Evidence

The document appears to be a medical report from Cedars-Sinai dated July 14, 2020, which states that a hospital security worker retrieved an evidence bag containing “foreign body.” Although the document does not list Megan’s name, it does include her birthday. Morgan says this raises serious questions about whether the bullet fragments were collected. He also raises curiosity about where they are now and why they were not given lawyers during the first trial.

Lanez’s legal team argues that if this information and physical evidence were withheld, it would amount to a Brady violation. This is a statutory law that requires prosecutors to share potentially exculpatory evidence with defendants. Morgan says access to that information could have allowed Lanez’s attorneys to challenge medical evidence or present an alternative theory to jurors. However, Morgan says it was something they were denied the opportunity to do.

Lanez Defense Alleges Brady Violation, Seeks Pardon

Last month, California’s Second District Court of Appeal dismissed Lanez’s appeal, finding neither error nor ineffective counsel. However, his team now plans to take the case to the California Supreme Court while also asking for clemency or clemency from Governor Gavin Newsom. Legal experts note that proving a Brady violation is extremely difficult. Also, Lanez’s team must show that the outcome of the case would have been different if they had presented the evidence.

Regarding Lanez, he says the case drew him as “a bad personHe reiterated that he would never hurt a woman. He also revealed that the time he was incarcerated was very painful. Lanez noted that he was stabbed more than ten times earlier this year. Now, he says he is just asking for someone to re-examine the evidence and decide whether the system that put him in jail was really fair.

Social Media Throws In Their Two Cents

As expected, people wasted no time rushing to The Shade Room’s Instagram comments section to comment.
