Week 42 of his second term was a busy one President Donald Trump.

This week, Trump signed into law the longest government shutdown in history, supported by using H-1B visas to hire foreign workers, announced plans to impeach Jeffrey Epstrein and other US figures, and issued amnesties for those accused of trying to sabotage the 2020 election.

Here’s a look at what happened.

The government shutdown is ending

On Wednesday evening, Trump signed the law that the house and the senate passed earlier in the week to support the government again, as the effects of the lack of funds began to be taken from federal funds and flight delays due to the lack of air traffic control facilities.

The bill maintains the fiscal year federal funding that was in line with funding levels in Jan. 30 to provide a window for lawmakers to set aside the FY 2026 appropriations bill.

The measure also allocates money to use the National Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), on which more than 42 million Americans depend, until September. This program supports low-income people or families to buy groceries with a debit card.

In addition, a moderate measure that reverses the Trump administration was put into motion in early October, and to pay workers for their absence.

Criticism of Foreign Workers

Trump also conducted an interview with FOX News’ Laura Ingraham that aired both Monday and Tuesday, in which he said that he brings talents “Ingraham says that the US has talent at home, Trump does not agree.

“No, you don’t. No, you don’t. You don’t, you don’t have some talents, and people should learn!” Trump said. “You can’t take people from the unemployment line, and then say I’m going to put them in a factory where we’re going to make missiles.”

The longest government shutdown in recent history ended as the house moved forward

H-1B visas allow US companies to hire highly skilled foreign workers for up to six years.

It is an issue that has continued to be debated among Maga supporters. Those who back the program say it’s important for us to compete, but opponents say visa holders are taking jobs from Americans.

Trump’s statements drew criticism from those who formed his base. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA., rebuked Trump’s statements after saying “it’s America first and America only.”

“I believe in the American people,” Greene said. “I am one of you. I believe that you are good, talented, creative, intelligent, hardworking, and want to be fulfilled. I deserve to be judged.”

Presidential pardon

In the interim on Sunday, the Trump administration announced that the President had issued pardons to more than 70 people accused of trying to tamper with the results of the 2020 election.
