Welcome to Derry’s Migrate PennyWife Restoration

As fans of King Stephen well know, PennyWani the dance comes out every 27 years to feed the people of Derry, especially the younger generation. that’s why It: welcome to dery took place in 1962, 27 years before the events of Andy Muschietti’s 1989 2017 It file fiel film, and 54 before the 2016 edition of Chapter two.
The original setting of the 60s ’60s allows It: welcome to dery Tapping into the broader climate of the era, drawing on issues such as early rights movements and cold war fears. IO9 recently participated in the press day of the HBO SHOW before its arrival on October 26, talking with Muschietti (Executive producer, in addition to producers, and executive buyers, as well as BrowRunners Brad Caleb Kane and Jason Fuchs.
“[1962] it is part of the story because we tell this story in cycles at Pincome. So it’s inevitable to go to ’62; This is our first step in a big journey, “explains Muschietti.” Segregation was around you; Racial Issues [were] In the heart of all American cities, especially in the south, but also in the north, as we see in Maine, in the story. And the cold war [too]. “
He continued. “Actually, it was interesting to talk about these things because it was a long time ago, not only to look at history, but also with amazing opportunities [for] Our letters … Again, ’62 is very close to the first period [setting] falls Ita book. When we did the adaptation of the movie, we transferred it to the 80s. And now we’re telling a prequel that takes place in ’62, but ’62 is much closer to 1958, which [when the novel takes place]. So it’s a return to the original feeling of the book and you try to explore a little of that country with its insects and its inclusion, and Stephen the king’s childhood. “
Kane clarified in a separate interview with IO9. “You can’t tell a story about a repressive government exploiting people’s fears in 1962 without dealing with the great fear of the time and the great problems. We depend on it,” he said.
“And 1962 is considered to be the period of Norman RocLwell America; It is a time that is ready for the innocence of that person, but if you think you will see what is underneath the facade, and We have tried to lean on what is real.”
While most of the show takes place in 1962, it also takes time to explore the deep history of the Delry area. America’s home population plays a major role in the new series, bringing a perspective that can’t be represented in the original King story or any of its previous adaptations.
“They’re the first people to encounter the monster, and they play an important role in fighting it,” Muschietti said. “There is a part of the story that is not even in the book that is an important part of the story in this series, which tells us about the struggle of the indigenous people against it, and that has positive ripple effects for future generations.”
Kane expanded on why the traditional storyline was so important to include It: welcome to dery. “We wanted to get back to the creature’s path – and we wanted to talk about the land managers. Indigenous people have lived with this worse than anyone else,” he said.
“It’s always there; it’s real in life. It needs to be looked at; it needs to be dealt with and obviously it’s a feature on the other side. And I think that was the main reason we did it.”

While native characters are an important part of It: welcome to deryThe exhibition also aims to give a microcosm feel – as Kane was raised, he noted the king began the idea of looking at Derry through that lens. We spend time with the children as they realize there is a monster in their midst. But we also know their parents and other adults in town, as well as soldiers stationed at a military base nearby. It’s a lot of cards to stack, but co-reembirs kane and fuchs didn’t see it as a challenge.
“I think we saw it more as an opportunity,” Fuchs said. “TV is obviously a long style to tell stories and so we had the opportunity to drink in different ways that two hours of a movie just didn’t allow. We were very happy to be seen more. We were very happy to be seen. We were really happy to be on a public level. And get a group of characters at the center of this, the Hanlon family, new to Derry, to provide a way for the fans of the first or something we are more happy about; “
While the show draws a fair amount of new material, the fact that it’s a prequel means that viewers have a good idea of what happens next – including the fact that PennyWine has many twists and turns along the way. To create a satisfying ending for viewers who know the monster will not be defeated and take a certain path down.

“The advantage of telling longer stories is that you can go into a much larger experiment. And we’re introducing a whole new set of characters this time than we’ve seen in the movies,” Kane said. “But we’re trying to rip into the line without people right away so you never know what’s going to happen with it. We want to offer how you’ll find this:
“And in reality, that’s the way we take it. It’s not really, ‘will it be defeated in the end or not?’ But will these characters survive? Will they learn the lessons? Will they grow up to see their children again?’
Kane continued. “We wanted to tell a story about the unity and innocence of the innocent, as the main themes of the book. Creation and fear really and with love, and that growth makes it more difficult than the letters, ‘Will it be defeated or not?’ We are trying to paint a story on a much larger canvas. “
It: welcome to dery It expands what fans know about Pennywiwi’s history with a few things, but we’re careful not to shine too much light on things. As Fuchs explained, revealing the details but also keeping some of that mystery to a minimum was a delicate task.
“It was always a broad thing – how much was revealed, how much should remain hidden. I think what’s beautiful about the richness of the legend of King Stephen, what was revealed,” said Fuchs. “So, Brad and I wanted to know more about it. We wanted to understand why the Derry Shifter had a light number.”
“So you’ll get, I hope, really satisfying answers to some of those things in terms of the show. But the answers themselves raise new mysteries and new questions. You can always go deeper and deeper.”
It: welcome to dery Premieres October 26 on HBO.
